posted by Maeve at 6:07 AM Monday, December 29, 2008 All said & doneThe tree is put away and so is all the Yule decorations. Now I just have to get out our new calendar and write all the birthdays in the coming up months. Wierd to think that the New Year is almost here.We have no plans to celebrate. We will probably just rent a movie and go to bed early. Maybe even play naked twister. It is also our last week of "freedom" before we have to get back to the grind. I'm not looking forward to packing lunches & planning menus. Or a sore attempt at planning our meals. I do miss terrorizing the kids. That is always fun.

posted by Maeve at 6:16 AM Saturday, December 27, 2008 Running on empty.........I hope Santa was good to every one this year. We had a nice Yule day at the inlaws. I even hugged a priest and did not go up in to flames!Impressive eh? The priest was none other than Father George that married us so many moons ago. He is a lot more fun to be around when he's out of the collar. The years have mellowed him too. He always sends us articles on autism that he finds in the news paper also. I'm glad every thing is over with, Dec is our most busiest month. Don't get me wrong, I love visiting with every one; but it just takes a toll. Nothing truly gets done around the house and we are always on the go. I've been letting a lot of things slip lately. Things that bring happiness to me and makes me feel "evened out". I've been letting the day to day mundane things rule my life and it has got to stop now. No longer will I put off horseback riding because it makes Steve nervous. It is my most single joy that I have that I do for myself. I will also make more time to practice my craft. Holy cow, talk about letting shit slip! I totally forgot to celebrate the winter soltice! What kind of witch am I? A lousy one! Lili had given me a really cool book to help give me a kick in the butt to get back on the path. Music is another thing that brings me great joy. Athena gave me a gift certificate to iTunes and I had a great time down loading songs yesterday. Today it even motivated me to take GP for a nice long walk so I could listen to them. I was quite the sight! My head was bobbing, lips moving to the lyrics and a big ass, hairy golden trotting happily beside me. Luckily I refrained from using my walking stick as a microphone. My neighbors think I'm strange enough. So there it is. 1. I am getting my fine Celtic ass on a horse at least once a week. 2. I'm getting back in to meditating. 3. I'm getting back on track with the craft. 4. I'm getting more exersize on a daily basis; with or with out the dog.

posted by Maeve at 3:23 PM Wednesday, December 24, 2008 Food comaEvery thing went great! Dinner was fabulous and Pudd'n really enjoyed his gifts. Of course his favorites were the videos. He knew which wrapped gifts held his treasured videos. He also loved the vibrating fish we got him.SLH of course had to check every thing out that was going on. We had to lock him in the bedroom come dinner time. Spoiled rotten cat.........

posted by Maeve at 6:06 PM Before & AfterHere is Pudd'n lounging in his bedroom. This is what the color looked like before I painted it. No, I did not miss a few spots on the wall. Those are "orbs" floating about.
And here is the finished product. Steve has finished the breakfast dishes, so now it is time for me to start cooking dinner. We are doing the traditional Italian dinner (Steve is Italian) of all fish. I've got shrimp scampi, crab cakes, battered halibut and tempura shrimp. I even got some cheesy bread. Every one have a good day. Say a prayer of thanks and protection for those in our military and give a big hug to those in your family or circle of friends.

posted by Maeve at 10:56 AM Thank youThank you every one that said a little prayer and or lighted a candle for Trish's nephew.Hello everyone, Just got a call from Randy, he has been to the doctor, and he is ok. Apparently the "shadow" they saw and had to have another picture of, was nothing.. and it has gone away.. WHAT?? .. They think it might have been a small infection from a sinus/allergy thing, they don't know. But I think it is a miracle, we put him in all our prayers, and no problem!! Thank you everyone for sending prayers and healing. Merry Christmas and may you be blessed...Love and Light, Trish Every one have a great Christmas Eve. I'll be in the kitchen cooking all day.

posted by Maeve at 8:16 AM Tuesday, December 23, 2008 Bright ideas...........One would think that after playing several hours with Lili's step son Je, SLH would had been tired out.Oh no, not my cat. SLH still had to make sure he wasn't missing anything after the girls and I finished our dinner. He got a wee bit too close to those floating candles........ Also, you'd think that after repainting my bedroom & kitchen; I'd had enough. Oh no, not me! Pudd'ns room was painted a few years ago, but it was a rush job. It was a light blue and to me the color looked faded. Plus, you could see every hand print or dirt mark on it. I get the bright idea of repainting his bedroom. Why not? I'm off at nights now and I still have those gift certificates buring a hole in my wallet. I pick out a really cool paint sample that is a bit darker blue. The paint has "granite" in it and you can also add these cool little sparkle things to the paint. To me it looks like you are looking at the ocean when the sun hits it. It is a subtle sparkle and I'm thinking it will go nice in Pudd'ns room. I get everything ready, Pudd'n is at grandma land and Steve is running errands. This paint goes on thick. This paint does not look blue. This paint looks more purple/blue. And all those little granite pieces? Those fuckers fly all every where. I'm still picking little purple/blue flecks out of my hair (I was too tired to wash my hair when I was done). And of course this isn't an easy paint job. You have to do 2 coats and the 2nd coat you have to brush the paint in an X formation; insuing that more granite flecks will be thrown about. Now as I put Pudd'ns room back togther it is even more blantantly obvious that what I thought was a blue paint was not (hey, the color is even called "Blue Star Quartz"). Ugh. I'm ready to stick a fork in my eye....................

Spaz's view on the drive home from Grand Rapids yesterday. Okay, maybe I don't miss driving in the snow. A few years in a row I was able to go home with Pudd'n for Yule. Air fare was real cheap and it was so much fun to be with my family on Yule morning (we always flew out Yule Eve). Now I make my own fun with my "extended family" here in CA. As usual, I thought I was going to piss my pants with laughter Sat eve when the girls came over. Aussie made the most delicious ham eveah! I happily traded all of my left over soup for their ham. I couldn't believe all the food we had. I also couldn't believe half of my house didn't have electricity; but we made do.

posted by Maeve at 7:06 AM Sunday, December 21, 2008 Chirstmas fun we didn't count on!Dig my 70's counter top! Here is the out let that started to burn.Yesterday we went to go visit with Steve's family to celebrate Christmas early as usual. Steve plugged in Pudd'ns DVD player to charge the battery to bring with us. As Steve unplugged it, it burned his hand. The prongs on the plug were a bit bent and it was hot to the touch. He thought that we had a defective item and would have to alert the manufacture. We left not thinking anything more of it. When we got home Steve went to go clean the cat box since now I had my friends coming over for the evening. The cat box is right by the out let that he used to charge the DVD player. "Uh Maeve, you'd better come look at this" Steve tells me. We ended up calling the fire dept to have some one come out to look at this and to make sure we were not going to go up in flames. They promised not to send a truck with lights & siren blaring. I giggled like a school girl in the back ground while Steve talked on the phone. Firemen. Firemen were coming to my house. They pulled up in this huge fire truck and blocked our drive way. The girls were set to arrive at any minute and I knew they might freak a bit to see this. Sure enough, I knew exactly when Aussie & Athena showed up. I could hear Aussie say "Omg! Is Pudd'n ok??". I walked out front to meet them and fill them in. GP is doing a happy dance at the prospect that all these people are here to see him and pet him. When Dru walked in she said "Cool! you got me firemen for Christmas!" The firemen gave us the ok after inspecting every thing. Needless to say, Steve is now going to be checking the rest of our outlets to make sure they wont go up in flames. I'm just happy I was not visibly drooling all over that hawt bald fireman that was standing in my dining room. (he was the same one that came out a few months back for a neighbor). And I'm also glad they shut the power off (all my candles were lit) because I'm sure Mr. Hawt fireman would of seen me sizing him up as if he were a side of beef.

posted by Maeve at 3:07 PM Thursday, December 18, 2008 Say a prayer pleaseA long time friend & reader asked me if I could ask all of you to light a candle and say a prayer for healing for her nephew.Maeve I have a huge favor to ask. Could you ask all your readers and light a candle for my nephew. He was over in Iraq had some type of accident that bumped his head. No one really knows has he never talked about it. No problems no issues he finished out his tour last Dec. He then had a bad accident on his motorcycle in April again head trauma. Randy has had headache for most of the month of Dec. The Doctors did a Cat Scan and has asked him to return for more tests. Source of headache is behind right eye and across the front of his brain. For now the Doctors are giving him Ibeprofen for the pain it cuts it down but the throbbing is still there. Any and all prayers will be greatly appreciated. I hope the doctors can heal your nephew ((Trish.)) I'll be lighting my candles tonight.

posted by Maeve at 9:20 PM AddictionTonight my paraffin pimp was having her annual Party_Lyte clearance sale. I have been wet with anticipation soon as she notified me what night it was.I love me some candles. I almost love candles more than whiskey. Steve, God bless his soul drove me to the paraffin pimp's house. It has been raining non stop and he knows how much I fucking hate driving in the rain. People in CA do not know how to drive in the rain. So, I sipped on my "to go" cup of whiskey as he drove, closing my eyes and losing my self in some Lorena McKennet............. OMG........the deals my pimp had out. There is another crack whore there like me named Pat; we were both after the same thing. Tea Lights. When 6:30 came the two of us were on the tea light box like flys on shit. "Don't you care what they smell like?" Steve asked. Oh hell no, I know they are going to smell good regardless. There were a few candle holders that I would have loved to had gotten, but I just don't have the counter space for any. Ask any one that has been to my house. I've got candles in every room and or wall. (one time the power went out and Steve thought that only the tv was broke. When I pointed out that the cable box was even out did it register that it was a power outage. I had so many candles burning he thought it was our lamps illuminating the living room). It was an early Yule for me.

posted by Maeve at 9:01 PM Great, now my damn cat smells like a douche....As usual, when I get home after picking up Pudd'n I'm very busy.Feed the kid, pets and getting dinner ready. So today after hastily putting away the groceries I start to make spaghetti sauce. The sauce is for tomorrow. Tonight we are having nachos. Oh and I also have to make a pumpkin spice dip for my seniors tomorrow. Satan's Little Helper was hell bent on driving me crazy or trying to kill me. He would not stay the fuck out from underneath my feet. I've got the full PMS machine going to boot. My boobs hurt, my back aches and I just don't have the patience to deal with SLH. I broke out the squirt bottle that has vinegar in it. That little shit would not take "no" for an answer. He was completly drenched by the time I finished with every thing. Some day he will learn..............sheeyah right.

posted by Maeve at 6:11 PM Ahhh my students know me so well.......As we all know I'm working for several teachers this year. Linda is still my home base, I just get pimped out to others to help. One of my classes is full of seniors. A good portion of these kids I've had since they were freshmen. They still try to pull shit, they are teenagers after all. I usually just have to give them the death stare/hairy eye ball and they fly straight real quick.Well one of my girls Mary is bombing on the tests and just barely passing in home work. She's always been like this. As I approached my class room I notice Mary coming up from the other direction with a bathroom pass. I stop her before we enter the class and I tell her I notice she is not doing that well on tests. Can I help her in any way to study for them? She looked at me sheepishly and said no. "Mary, are you studying for the testes?" *insert hairy eye ball here* "Ummmmm, no" was her reply. I continue to give her the hairy eye ball as I reach out to open the door for us to enter the class room. She took a huge step back as she noticed my arm raising. She wasn't waiting to see if it was going to the door knob or to smack her upside the head.

posted by Maeve at 5:45 AM Sunday, December 14, 2008 Partaaay time!!In Dec. I'm a busy, busy witch. It is the only time that I have a full calender of fun things to do. I had already planned for Cathy to come over for dinner on Friday. Early Thurs she texted me to tell me that the Orange restaurant finally closed. Well good then, Kurt can come over to play with us Friday night since now he too no longer has a job I told her. We had a blast! Sat night found us at our friend Gayle's house for the annual barn party with my horsie friends. Now two years ago at one of these parties I got hammered on tequila and made an ass of myself. For once I learned from my mistakes and stayed far away from that shit. Ok, I at least paced myself now when the shots start flowing. This year my friend Becca (who is the hostess of this party) did not. Holy cow that girl was hammered. Gayle who is 63 kept laughing that she had to find younger friends since Becca was hammered and the rest of us stopped drinking long before. It was all in good nature, no one wanted a DUI hence the stoppage of the booze early enough in the night. Becca's husband, like mine is always the DD. This week will find me doing a lot of baking and cooking. Next weekend it is the family get together and on the same day my witchie friends will be over. No rest for the wicked............

posted by Maeve at 5:36 AM Wednesday, December 10, 2008 Ow, ow. ow, ow!This is "Repent Ye Sinner" a.k.a. "Kirby". It is a shitty picture, but damn this horse is tall. I didn't want to explain to Steve that I flipped off backwards while taking a picture with my cell phone; so hence the shitty shot. And here is a very happy GP. He loves to go down to the stables. My usual choice of horse, Kip is out of commission. He's got ring bone in two legs. I normally ride Kip because he likes to work. Very smooth and all you have to do is sit there. Oh and hold on for your dear life too. That horse had a bad spooking problem. And it was over stupid shit too. Flowers blooming? Oo they were going to eat him. Cut down a tree that was by the arena? He was sure that stump was going to chase him down. Don't get me started on trash that might have been blowing by or tarps covering stalls. Kirby is a bit more stable in nature. Very mellow and very fucking lazy. That rat bastard made me work to keep him in a trot. A canter? Ugh! I am so sore right now. I forgot just how many muscles you do use to make sure you don't land on your ass. After 30 minutes of arena work I took Kirby out on trail. That horse really shines out there. He kind of looks for things to get goofy over; but at least he'll listen to you when you bump his nose down to keep his attention focused on you. GP was another story out on trail. He hasn't been out there since Jack died and GP was scared shitless. Jack used to lead while out on trail. He was a hearding dog, he was supposed to be looking for "danger". GP? His nose was so far up Kirby's ass! I'm lucky that horse did not having a kicking problem. It even took me a few minutes of calling GP to come down the short hill to the trail. That damn dog just stood there and looked at me as if he were saying "oh hell no!". Some hunting dog he would of made eh? Any way, it was a great time and I plan on doing it again tomorrow. Hopefully by then I won't be so stiff any more.

This is right as you walk in the front doors. They had several marines out front on the steps in their dress blues holding the American & Marine flags. I had to resist the urge to goose one on the ass as we walked in. Just before dinner was served the Marines came in with the flags and they played the Star Spangled Banner. Every one clapped for the Marines when they came in and when the song was over several people yelled out "THANK YOU" really loud.

posted by Maeve at 3:31 PM Monday, December 01, 2008 LL tagged me with a book memeI am supposed to open the nearest book to page 56 and write a few sentances from that page. The book I had on hand was Eclipse, the 3rd in the Twilight series. The books are good. I prefer the Sookie Stackhouse novels myself. He nodded. "But, clearly, you were too much of a coward to deal with Charlie, so I interceded on you behalf". "Intereceded? You threw me to the sharks!" He rolled his eyes. "I don't think you were in any danger". " I told you I didn't want to fight with Charlie" "Nobody said you had to" I glowered at him. "I can't help myself when he gets all bossy like that ---my natural teenage instincts over over me". He chuckled. " Well, that's not my fault". I stared at thim, speculating. He didn't seem to notice. His face was as he gazed out the windsheild. Some thing was was off, but I couldn't put my finger on it. Or maybe it was just my imagination again, running wild like it had this afternoon. And now I'm supposed to tell you 7 random things about me & my books. 1. I am a voracious reader. I can go through 1-3 books a week depending up on how long they are. 2. I'm lucky that a coworker and I share a common interest in books, we are constantly trading books. She's introduced me to several great authors. 3. I read at stop lights 4. I love cook books and have to really restrain myself from buying every single one made by Taste of Home. You can't go wrong with any of their recipes. 5. I need another spell book like I need a hole in the head, but if Ellen Dugan is writing it; I'm buying it. 6. I used to trade books with my grandma. At that point in my life I was in to mysteries. 7.After giving birth to Pudd'n I can't read anything by Stephen King or Dean Koontz. Hell if I know why either? Although I will re read The Stand.

posted by Maeve at 7:59 AM Back to the grindI have been practicing 2 of the 7 deadly sins all week.Sloth & Gluttony. Mostly gluttony with a vengeance and oh boy do I feel it! Time to start eating right and getting my ever bloated carcass back on the elliptical. Lets see if the damn thing works this week. I've been searching on line for a good priced one that is not going to break down in the first week. For what I spent on this one and the name brand you'd think it would of lasted. I got my final paychecks on Friday and I went to a branch of the bank they were drawn from. Both checks totaled $200 and the bank could not cash them. They cashed the smaller of the two and I'm just going to have to keep going back to see if I can get the other one cashed. I had some friends over last night and that was a lot of fun. It was a nice way to cap off a great vacation. I love the home improvements that I did and it felt great to sleep in every day and not have to rush off to a job every night. Although, I'd really would still like to have that night job! I'll start hitting places up today and putting out applications. Cross your fingers for me. |
