posted by Maeve at 10:16 PM A really good day.Grampy pushing the prince on the raft. Pudd'n has never seen one of these floating seats, but immediatly knew what it was for.
My step sister is out of town until the week end. As you can see she has an awesome pool. This was the first time to her house and Pudd'n walked in easy as you please. He got in the pool even quicker. We had a great time up until he slipped on a palm leaf by the side of the pool and cut his foot as he fell in. He was walking between the two spots where you could jump off the "rocks". Pudd'n was rushing as he is wont to do and fell. I was actually ready to go any way. 4 hours in a pool is more than enough for me. Kenny offered to bring us Sat before Tracy came home and I weighed the pros & cons of not going to the beach. I'm trying to cram as much beach time in before it gets too cold. But then I thought: Tracy's house has a clean bathroom less that 50ft from the pool. I don't have to schelp a shit load of stuff to Tracy's house. Tracy's house has an outside fridge in the bar to keep my beer cold. Krystal will be with us sat and she can drive the short bus home. Tracy's house is quiet and not crowded with people. Fuck the beach, we're going to Tracy's house!

posted by Maeve at 5:00 PM Tuesday, August 26, 2008 Dinner theatre............Ok.I feel like I've been beaten with a 2x4 after surfing today. So of course I have a few glasses of whiskey before our little dinner soiree. I pack a big glass in a to go cup to sip along the way (steve drives). We get to our destination and I'm really not done with said drink. I'm trying to keep it mellow. The party is not yet ready to get started so we sit in the bar at table 200. Kevin does a visual sweep of the bar and when his gaze rests upon me he audibly says "Oh shit.........". I give him an evil grin and say "Hey Beer boy.......do me!". Kev produces a Hef and I start to sip. Katie comes out and she is visibly nervous. She is the chef for tonight's soiree. Well hell Katie, let's go "smoke" out back and I'll get my soda from the car. Katie lights up and I produce a nice full to go cup of whiskey. "suck Katie, suck! blow is just an expression!" I tell her. I thought she was going to spit the drink out. Any way, some time between the salad and soup two guys at a neighboring table are getting in to a verbal dispute. For what ever reason I'm trying to get Kim's attention. She is sitting next to me and in the reserves. If any one could kick my ass at work, it would be her. These two guys take it out side and start beating the shit out of each other. Damn! I didn't know dinner came with a show! The altercation was broken up and both guys left. I ended up winning not only a wine opener, but a bottle of wine too. Fun times.

posted by Maeve at 9:43 PM Beach fun.As we made our way to the underground pass to the beach I noticed Animal Control parked in the gas station parking lot.Guess they are finally cracking down after all these years. As we are walking through the tunnel I see Joanie Law walking towards us. When we get side by side, she looks down at GP, looked at his vest and asked "service dog?". I told her yes and I had his card too. GP knows an animal lover and instantly leans his head in to Joanie Law's leg for a scratch on the head. She happily obliged and told us to have a nice time at the beach. The tide was real low and I had to go out pretty far to get a comfortable level of water to hold up GP on the boogie board. We mostly had gently rolling waves and few rough ones that tumbled us pretty good. I'm now really sore and my body is covered in scratches & bruises from GP's claws trying to get him on the board after a wipe out. At least my boys had fun today. That is all that matters to me.

posted by Maeve at 7:55 AM Sunday, August 24, 2008 More old photos. This was Pudd'ns first Yule. The handsome, yet disgusted dog next to him is Jack. We've gone through all the older photo albums and I've made sure my youngest sister got the lion's share of it all. My other two siblings really don't care. It was hard to look at all those baby pictures. All the things we used to do, dreams we had. I wish Pudd'n had some sort of interest in something. We've tried soccer, baseball, art classes, cub scouts and other various kid type things geared for kids like him. Nada. It is either the beach or watching tv. That is it.

posted by Maeve at 7:42 AM Friday, August 22, 2008 Neighborhood gossipRemember my scum bag neighbors with the dog? Well the postman has told us that he no longer delivers mail to their house because of said dog. They have not gotten mail in over a month. He said all they got any way were supenas and court orders (is that the same thing?). Tonight while rubber necking a nasty car accident on our main road, the lady that lives next to him was telling me they have a lot of trash and boxes in their back yard and now she's got a mouse problem because of it.And now the nasty accident. As I was driving down our main road to my street I see lights flashing. Several police cars and a tow truck are just up ahead. It appears that some one was driving at excessive speed, hit a parked car and flipped up side down faceing the opposite direction. My stomach dropped when I saw a stroller amongst the debris. The driver of the Jeep/mini SUV was traveling so fast and hit the first car so hard it created a chain effect shoving 5 cars together. My neighbor next door to Mr. Scumbag heard the impact. Her husband went to see what happened while she dialed 911. The driver and the passanger bailed on the car. The police managed to catch the driver in the little park down by my house. The helicopter is now flying over head to find the driver. Never a dull moment in my 'hood!

posted by Maeve at 11:34 PM Thursday, August 21, 2008 In beloved memory...........It was a year ago today that my aunt Loonie died from an accidental o.d. on prescription and o.t.c. drugs. She is riding my horse Cheyne in this photo.Aunt Loonie, I will always remember you as the beautiful young woman that was like an older sister to me. I really do miss you. It was 14 years ago today that my aunt Pat died. This is my favorite picture of her. She was such a lady. I loved how they dressed "back then". With so much more style and grace then what you see people wearing (or lack of) today. Pat I hope you rest in peace with the choices that you made while you were here on this earth.

posted by Maeve at 8:33 AM Wednesday, August 20, 2008 Feast or famineThey have a new promotion out at work and it is bringing in the crowd. As usual, mine and other server's complaint is that people do not tip accordingly.I worked my butt off last night for very little money. Ugh. We are also down 4 servers because they are going back to school and they didn't hire any one new to take their places. I ended up working two different stations at opposite ends of the restaurant until the 6pm people came in. I needed roller skates! Today I am really sore.

posted by Maeve at 8:59 AM Tuesday, August 19, 2008 Support of a different kind.As most of you know I make up care packages for our soldiers. And thanks to Catfish they also get emails with nekkid women and porn type stuff. I found Big Tobacco via my favorite Hawt Asian Chick. It seems BT wants something other then a care package to "support" him. He is like any red blooded man.He wants some clevage. It is simple. All you have to do is show some clevage and a sign saying you support Big Tobacco. DO NOT show your face in the picture. And don't tell me that you can't do it. When was the last time you wore a bathing suit or low cut top? Guess what you were showing off! So show some support for one of our guys. Don't make me get the flying monkeys................

posted by Maeve at 5:20 PM More drama, only on the home front this tim.......Ok, let me set the scenerio.By now I hope you have gathered that Steve is usually a calm individual. He puts up with me and his stupid brother with out so much as batting an eye. He has always been the calm one where as I will usually fly off the handle. Our fucking scum bag neighbors a few doors down: Last year they had a poor pit/sharpe mix that would bark non stop. That dog dissapeared and they got some sort of bassett/terrier mix to keep their long haired ankel biter company. Then they got a pit bull. As usual, the dogs would run through the streets. Several of my neighbors complained about this. We have help on the weekend for Pudd'n. We always have the girls park in our drive way for saftey reasons. I don't live in an overly dangerous place, but why take chances? So the girls park in my drive way and we'll park Steve's car in the cul de sac. Got that? All righty then. I'm at the beach, Jessie is parked in my drive way and Steve is off running errands. On his way back he hits the garage door opener and then parks his car in the cul de sac at the end of the street. With his hands full, the hound/terrier mix starts to charge Steve as he walks past. Steve does his best to shoo the dog off by swinging the bags and the damn thing keeps going for his ankles as he makes his way to our garage. He dumps the bags in the drive, grabs the first shovel he can and goes after the dog. He chases it back to the house and the owner comes out saying "it's ok, it's my dog". Steve tells him "no, it is not ok that fucking thing tried to bite me and I'm going to kill it". The dog runs in to the back yard and Steve thinks this is the end of it. Shhheah riiight. As he makes it back to the drive way the gottdamn dog is on his heels again!!! Now my husband is really pissed and he does his best to hit the dog up side the head. Now the owner's tune has changed to "it's not my dog". Steve calls animal control and he tells them they'd better get down here quick because he's going to kill the damn dog. We have a lot of kids that play on our street and what if they get bit? These scum bags don't even get dental work for their kid that has black teeth; this dog is not fixed and probably does not have its shots. I've had to shoo this dog off several times with my walking stick when I'd take GP for a walk. And these fucktards let this dog roam every where. 10 min after this a tan SUV pulls up to their house and some one took the dog because when animal control showed up 15 min later the dog was no where to be found. Several of our neighbors came out to back up our story of how these dogs run free all the time. This is not the first time animal control has been to their house. Shit, 2 weeks ago they showed up twice in one day and one of those times was at 9pm. The animal control officer cautioned Steve about "excessive force" because it is a small dog. I told the officer I don't care if it is a small dog. It could be rabid and then what would my husband have to go through? The damn dog is on MY property and if it is coming after us, we will defend our selves. So much for the nice relaxing day at the beach....

posted by Maeve at 8:00 AM Thursday, August 14, 2008 I'm really ready for summer to be over with....As much as Pudd'n loves the beach and it gives me endless amounts of pleasure to see him so happy; I'm ready for summer to be over with. There must be some sort of crack down or major consipiracty to harass me this summer. To go to the beach I have to park at Aunt Selma's. There I don't have to worry about parking on a busy street and feeding the meter. From her place of residence we walk to an under ground walk way by the sewage drain off to the beach. Once on the beach we make our way to sit in front of Shit Coast Estates club house. The city is working on the sewage pump and stuff in the under ground pass. I've seen workers in there before and no one has ever said "boo" to me. I usually get a friendly smile as they see me loaded down like a pack mule with son & dog in tow. Yestreday some one must of pissed in this guy's cornflakes because he starts in with the "no dogs" spiel. When I tell him "service dog" he snottily said to me "you'll probably get a ticket any way". "Bring it on" I tell him "I'm sure the city wants to be embarassed by a law suit for discriminating against a child with a disability". We trudge on and find a nice spot to camp for the day. A lady with a boy about 7 set up behind us and the four of us end up spending the next few hours chatting and playing. It was real nice to finally run in to a Shit Coast member that was nice this summer. 2 hours in to having a nice time the life guard comes down to tell me "no dogs". Huh? I'm here 2 hours and you are now coming down to tell me this shit? I'm thinking. It turns out his stupidvisor was there. "service dog" Uh, ok said life guard He goes back tells stupidvisor what I said and she sends him back asking where my dog's vest was. My dog's vest is in the van. I don't have GP wear it down because I don't want it getting ruined at the beach. I inform LG that I have GP's service dog card stating what he is. I show it and he goes back to stupidvisor. She sends him back again. "Well, I'm supposed to tell you that you can still get a ticket". I truly felt sorry for this kid. He didn't want to be doing this. He really didn't give a shit we were on the beach. Some bitch had a hard on and wanted to play puppet master with him. I inform him to tell his stupidvisor to quit harassing me. I've provided proof that my dog is a service dog and the city will end up with a nice law suit if they try anything else. Today I'll have GP wear the vest down. I'll just keep it in a bag so it does not get ruined by salt water & sand. Just 3 more weeks...............

posted by Maeve at 8:18 AM Wednesday, August 13, 2008 Kitty bondage!!I'm sure he's thinking "I hate you mommy". I cannot sit out on my patio with out SLH going absolutely ape shit. He climbs my screen doors howling and carrying on. If I close the glass and or wood front door, it get horribly stuffy in my small home. So I figured I'd get a little harness and bring him out with me. He was pretty pissed at first, but I think he'll warm up to it quickly. I put him on it last night while watching tv. I was then able to open up all the screen doors to let the cool night air in. I had a retractable leash left over from my terrier and it is the perfect size and length to let SLH still roam a bit.

posted by Maeve at 9:47 AM Uh oh, that don't sound too good.........Yesterday morning at 7:15 am I get a phone call and with the caller i.d. I see that it is the fucking moron. I let it go to the machine. I really don't feel like talking to him.He leaves a message for Steve and he says he'll call him on his cell phone. No such luck. Bastard calls back an hour later and I answer with the phone that does not have caller i.d. Shit!!! FM is sobering up again and now he's claiming spirits are visiting him. Uh huh, suuuuure. Can you say "hallucinating?" Good children, I thought you could. Now as most of you know, I do belive in ghosts and all that other crap. Why don't I believe the FM? Because he's claiming that there are two evil spirits keeping him awake, trying to kick the dog and throwing spiders on him. Throwing spiders on him. My MIL is on her way down to see the FM and we ask her to stop by and pick up a few things for FM to ease his booze soaked brain. We send her off with holy water, rosaries, prayers to say and a 7 day candle. She reported that FM put up all the rosaries in every room (yes, we've got that many they've been in the family for a long time) and finally calmed down. Apparently this is the first time he's quit cold turkey in years. He usually goes to some rehab and they jack him up on pills so he does not get like this. FM turns 43 next month. He has been a drunk/drug addict since he was 16 and we've lost count of how many times he has rehabed. *UPDATE* My MIL is driving down to take FM to the emergency. He's now claiming the house is bugged and some one is watching him. Fun and games are sure to insue now.

posted by Maeve at 6:02 PM Thursday, August 07, 2008 One of my favorite picturesThis is me & Lissie our Sr. year of high school. It is the home coming dance. I came across this in a photo album while cleaning the closets. We were brutal while cleaning. We got rid of old cards (except the ones from Pudd'n), books, clothes. If I forgot I had it, it was tossed. We have a huge pile o' crap for the garage sale in Oct.G's daughter will be getting any witch type book I've out grown and don't use. You think the girl had won the lottery with all the ones I sent to her from Athena. Holy cow was that kid excited. And what witch in training wouldn't be? Athena & I have a pretty impressive library. Any way, I've got some great stuff to pass on to my sister and cousin. I keep going back to the closets and looking in at their now clutter free pristine beauty.

I have to wear these damn things 24/7 until Tues. Yippee skippy. To distract me from obsessing over skin cancer Steve and I cleaned out closets. I came across the above picture. Me, Babs, Melissa and Spaz on our last great outing to Sin City. Now I need to find other things to distract the voices in my head that won't shut the fuck up. *sigh*

I set up camp, inform new life gurad "service dog" and proceed to have a blast with my son & dog. At one point I saw a pod of at least 7 dolphins swim by. They found some fish and it was fun to watch them get a meal. A lady was on the shore taking pictures of GP on the boogie board. The water was too deep for me to stand and hold him up. I had to tread water. If I got too close to the shore where there was footing, we'd get caught up in the surf. It was a great time. I just wish we could of stayed longer, but I had to work. Pudd'n had a smile plastered on his sweet face the entire time we were there. We came home and I proceeded to shower Pudd'n, feed him, get GP out front and wash him, get final touches on Steve's dinner ready, get my sorry ass in the shower, dress and get ready for work. I then did a drive through dinner and took Pudd'n to my mom's for the night. Lucky for me one of the opening girls wanted to stay, so I got to go home at a decent hour. Steve had a drink waiting for me and now it is time to relax.

posted by Maeve at 8:24 AM Friday, August 01, 2008 A Blessed Lugnasadh to you all today. :)Falling midway between Summer Solstice and Autumnal Equinox is the cross-quarter holiday of Lugnasadh, which is the first in the trilogy of harvest festivals, Lugnasadh, Mabon and finally Samhain. Lugnasadh commemorates the first fruits of the harvest; reminding us of our close relationship with the Earth. It is at the time of Lugnasadh when the days suddenly seem to shorten and the nights grow longer.Lugnasadh is a harvest celebration named for Lugh (Irish), Llew (Welsh), Lug (Britonic),or Lugus, the Celtic sun god. Lugnasadh is known to non-Celts as Lammas. The common name for this seasonal celebration in modern times, comes from the word for "loaf mass", which celebrates the bread made from the first grain to be harvested. This is the time of corn festivals and corn dances. Lugnasadh was the first of three harvest festivals. Lugnasadh was the early harvest, often the largest and the most important followed by Mabon and then the final harvest of the year which came at Samhain. The success of the harvests would determine the quality of life for the rest of the year. Every able-bodied person would gather to harvest the all-important corn, barley, oats and wheat; with everyone in the community working together. At the completion of the work they then would celebrate and thank the Gods for the bounty of the fields. The descent into the darkness of winter is still several months away, but the ever-present spector of famine was never far from people's minds. A fine celebration at Lugnasadh showed the Gods, that the people truly appreciated the bounty given to them. In Europe the Corn Mother was made from the last sheaves of corn harvested; as her spirit was believed to be embodied in these. The "corn dolly" would be kept safe through winter and then buried in the spring, with the sowing of the fields. |
