Friday, October 31, 2008 The BEST All Hollow's Eve Evah!I laughed so much tonight I was ready to piss my pants.It was exactly what I needed, even though I was surrounded by Osamabama supporters. ;) The only thing that disturbed me tonight was 11/12 year olds dress liked hookers. One even had furry hand cuffs with her. Am I just getting old??? Pictures and more to come tomorrow when I'm sober. Right now I'm comfortably numb.

Thursday, October 30, 2008 Now it really is my "Friday night"Pudd'n is happily over at grandmaland getting smothered in kisses and being chased by grampy.Poor Steve got called out, the O/T pay will be nice though. I have: put away laundry made creamy bac/potato soup for tomorrow dishes brushed the GP vaccumed up all the hair that dog puts out. Now I'm gonna go find a recipe for toasted pumpkin seeds. I'm really excited for tomorrow. I've got all my offerings for my deceased loved ones. I may try and get some pan de los muertos before I get my beloved from my mom's house. Maybe some flowers too. We'll see. If you would like me to put a candle on my alter for your loved one, please let me know in my comment section.

Tuesday, October 28, 2008 My "Friday night"..........sort of...........Five days straight at Carin*s is not my idea of a good time. I'm ready to go down from the 4 days I was working in the summer to 3 days as I was doing last fall.Working with the GM on a night where he closes is helping that choice. We were busy, but luckily had the bus boy. That was until he sent him home at 8pm. Um, excuse me dumb ass............but we still have a restaurant full of tables that need busing. I had a party of 6 and then 4 tables of parties of 2. So when GM asks if Melly gave me any side work I informed him that I'm still trying to clean up my station and get my condiments filled. There is really nothing I can do to break things down for closing. Melly is still getting tables and of course the place is a pig sty. I felt bad for not being able to do more, but I had to get home. Steve is on call this week and the sitter needed to go home. Had GM kept the damn bus boy on I could of done a hell of a lot more clean up. Beer Boy came in with his girlfriend and that made my night. I miss Twist my arm! Booze and eye candy. Works for me.

Monday, October 27, 2008 Comfort foodI've got the grocery list all made up for what I'll need to make pot pie and bac/potato chowder for Halloween this Fri. Oh and the mulled cider too. I'm all about the comfort food this time of year. I can finally turn my oven on and bake to my heart's content. I'm also hoping the comfort food will ease my usual worry over my son's future.Last night sucked wind at work again, only this time it was the cooks. Is there a full moon I don't know about because it has been really shitty all week. The cooks got swamped last night and people were waiting for up to a 1/2 hr to get their food. Both of our managers are quitting too. My favorite ones of course, this just sucks! I think I'm gonna go pop a Xanx...............

Sunday, October 26, 2008 This really should be a picture of Osgood......... Nothing is sacred in my house. Nothing. My darling little All my pretty sun catchers in my sliding glass doors that cast pretty rainbows on the floors? He tore them all down. Halloween decorations? MMMMMM they taste good. Food on the counters? Fair game beotch! Ugh!!!! I do have the sadistic satisifaction that Osgood only wakes up Steve in the wee hrs of the morning. He can't figure out why. I keep telling him it is because the cat knows he can get away with shit with you because you are inconsistant and a push over. Steve, being the thick headed goomba that he is just does not get it. He's had this complaint with all of our animals. "They don't listen to me!" And if I point this little gem of a fact out? Pffffffttttttt............forget it. Update: We went to the drug store and I picked up some shampoo that I despretely needed along with a few other sundries. I came in the house and plopped the bag of goodies on the dining room table. I then went to charge Pudd'ns Ipod. I heard the rustling of bags, but thought nothing of it. I get Pudd'ns Ipod all squared away and go to put my purchases away. The bag is filled with soap.......... The Gotdamn @#&*! cat punctured several holes in the shampoo I just bought!!!!!

Saturday, October 25, 2008 We had our asses handed to us again............I picked up a shift tonight. It started at 4 pm which means "first on first off".I don't know what the fuck happened, but when I got there it said I was to come in at 6pm and I was to close. I don't think so people, can we all say "Ms. Maeve don't close!". Not only did they screw up mine and Kyle's start time, they didn't take Melanie off of the schedual. She & Pat are in Vegas this weekend (hence my happy ass being there to cover Pat). It is 5 pm now and the hostess is in. I tell her to go check with management what they want to do with station 5 because melly won't be in. I don't know what the fuck that twit did, but she ended up seating melly's station! Hello! Dumb ass! Not only is she seating melly's station, she's not seating mine. She is double seating the other people and seating in stations where there is no server. I ask her what the hell is going on and she is dumb enough to say "I didn't know you were on". WTF???!!! Do you think I'm here for my health? "Well it says you come on at 6pm" she stammered. Did I not point out that Melly wasn't here, my start time was crossed out and rewritten in?? And did you not notice that stations were changed on the sheet???? From there it just went down hill. A waitress & hostess that had put their two week notice in did not show up for their shifts tonight. They fucked us over big time. At one point 10 of my 12 tables were filled. Oh and aunt flo started too in the middle of all this. Yeah, I'm having a big glass of whiskey right now.

Friday, October 24, 2008 Got no title for this post..........Tonight when I go in to work I'm gonna find out if they are going to stick with the "no bus boy" crap mon-thurs.If so I'm dropping my tues. nights. It wouldn't be so bad if it were Kathy or Barb closing that night. With them you know they will help out. My back has been jacked up all week from the extra bending & lifting I had to do last time I worked. I wish I didn't have to go in tonight. Some how sitting at home sipping whiskey sounds much more appealing.

Thursday, October 23, 2008 Best evening evah!Yesterday my MIL called to say she was stopping by to pick up & drop off stuff. She and Steve arrived at the same time and she offered to take us out to dinner. We went to Pudd'ns favorite pizza place to sit on the patio and eat. It was a really nice and relaxing time. We haven't gone out to eat with Steve's mom in years. Pudd'n hates restaurants so it was a treat we had to give up as a big family outing. Before the autism took over, we'd go out at least once a month with the in laws.The weather was perfect, a nice fall afternoon. Pudd'n happily watched his DVD player while we started on our salads. Dinner came and he gobbled up his pizza & spaghetti. It was so surreal to sit there nicely and have a conversation. All of us left very full, happy and relaxed. Mom had to take off and I had to color my hair. I'm hoping we can do that again soon. It is so nice that we've finally found a place that Pudd'n will tolerate sitting in.

Tuesday, October 21, 2008 Longest fucking night of my life............Ok, we all know it has been slow where I work right??Well our GM decides that we are going to no longer have a hostess or bus boy Mon-Thurs. No sweat on the hostess that "works" on tues night. She is pretty, but useless. The bus boy, oh hell no slappy. We need him!!!!! There is only four of us on the floor all night. The other new thing is that they want the middle two stations to fill up before the side ones. So that way when customers walk in the restaurant looks "full and desireable". What ever. Ok, 3 people are supposed to rotate tables in 2 stations until the closer comes in. We end up getting slammed and the whole fucking place is full. The GM actually had to get up off his ass and help us for a change. I'm kinda ready to smack the bartender even though she just gave me a cool computer for my day job. She starts shit that it is the day shift's fault we are behind because as ususal, nothing is stocked. No, we are behind because there is 3 of us and no GOTDAMNED bus boy!!!!! From 5:00 to 9:00pm it was non stop. My back is killing me by now and I'm getting a bit cranky............not good people. Leticia is all happy that she is busy and keeps gushing "oh this is so great!" Sure it is sugar, some how you managed to get all your fucking tables in one section! Me & Wes are running between 3 stations trying to figure out who has what and shouldn't you have picked up some of these tables too??? She finally shuts the fuck up when I threaten her perky cute ass with bodily harm. I am so tired that I have no desire to open the two huge boxes of Party Lyte candles sitting in my living room right now that came in today. How many levels of wrong is that???

Monday, October 20, 2008 Steve does not call me "Evil Incarnate" for nothing.Tonight when I got in to work, I noticed that day crew did not do their side work.Nothing was done. I had to refill sugars, oil, salt & peppers on my station. There were no baskets of rolled sliver ware. The prep line had no sliver ware. Dishes were stacked up in the back. Garlic shakers needed refilling. The list goes on, but I won't bore you any more then I usually do. Kyle and I start to get shit in order. We have 4 large parties tonight and we don't want to run out of anything and fuck our selves over. All the while I'm grumbling about how they'd better not give me evening side work since I've done all day's shit. I know I'm not going to get out of it, there is only 4 of us on the floor and that would really be shitty of me not to do something to help with closing. So the rush comes and goes and now it is time for the clean up. As I walk out of the kitchen I see Kathy (manager) talking to Dani the closing waitress. Dani: Um, Maeve.....so what do you want to do tonight? I stop, slowly turn to her and say "What do you mean?" Dani (starting to squirm) about side work. Me: I've already done side work, all of day's damn shit! I then fix her with the look of death and do not say anything as she babbles out some menial side work. She knows what I've already done and she really is giving me quick & easy shit to do. I lean further in to her (she's a whopping 5ft to my 5'10) and notch up the look of death. At this point Kathy is just about peeing her pants with laughter. Exasperated, Dani throws up her hand and huffs a "never mind" and stomps off muttering about "fucking amazon women better not put some bad ju ju on me for trying to hand out side work". At this point I'm ready to piss my pants and I go off to do as she had asked.

Sunday, October 19, 2008 Busy witchThe garage sale was a huge success, with the exception of my sugar skulls. Last year, I sold them all. This year? Not one.Oh well, I'll have plenty for my alter then. Kerri & Gene came over to sell stuff too. That was really helpful because Gene is bilingual. The neighbor had some friends over selling stuff at their place and they had a bunch of kids running around. One little shit thought he'd be slick and steal one of the soccer balls that Gene had for sale. It was real nice to call the little brat on it and since Gene speaks spanish, the kid couldn't pull "no habal Englais". Another boy stopping by with his mother tried stealing a stuffed animal. He knew Kerri was busy, but what he did not realize was that I had full view of him and knew what he was up to. Just before he put the toy in his bag he looked over and saw me. I gave him the look of death and he quickly put the toy back on the table. We pigged out on tacos from a neighbor's house. The salsa was very spicy and cleared my sinuses. For the first time in a week I could breath with out the aid of an allergy pill. Today I picked up a perfectly good desk top computer from Jenny, our bartender. She switched to lap top because her condo is too small for a desk top. I now have a computer to keep at school and I can now keep in touch with my case carriers. Suhweet! I switched out monitors though, Jenny's is a flat screen and HUGE! I scored for sure!

Wednesday, October 15, 2008 Sweet funI managed to make almost a dozen sugar skulls tonight. I need to get my fine Celtic ass in gear if I plan to sell any at the community garage sale this weekend.It sucks that I have to find places in the garage for them to dry. Last year I was able to set them out on the dining room table. But thanks to He'd have them babies all torn up by day light. He'd knock them down on to the floor for GP to eat and then get gasritis. *Heavy Sigh*

Tuesday, October 14, 2008 Snippits of my day...............Or should it be titled age has its privilege?Heh. It is no secret that I am the oldest waitress where I work. Hell, I've pulled "age rank" with a manager that is old enough to where I could of changed her diapers....... As I approached the counter where we roll napkins/get take out food ready I spy two of our 18 yr old girls wispering something and by their body language, they were talking about me. I sidle up, give them the evil eye and say "yes?" Khira: We were just talking about you Me: Yeah, I know Melodie: You know? I arch my brow and tell them "yes, I can read your body language". It turns out Melodie's parents are going out of town and she wants to throw a party. A party her parents don't know about. A party to where I'm old enough to be her mother............ And this party starts at 9pm. Oh hell no. At that time of night I'm in my sexay granny jammies and ready for bed. I got all that nonsense out of my system over 20 years ago. I'm flattered girls, but I know I'm gonna pass. Steve is off this week, burning up his vacation time or else he will lose it. So I come home from my wonderful day job of terrorizing teenagers at noon, see my beloved "OOOOh, there is mommy's little baby? How's my sweet boy today?" To where Steve informs me that Osgood was in his lap at the computer and Steve being the typical male; can only focus on one thing at a time. He shifted his weight and Osgood being the flexible noodle that he is started to fall through Steve's lap........... What do cats do when they are slipping? Why they use their claws to stop the momentum! See where this is going? Cat in lap of husband? Cat slipping? Yeah.........Osgood managed to sink his claws in to my favorite toy. The toy I plan on using and abusing this entire week since I get home at noon. Gotdamn it! I hold up "Knock it off!!! That is mommy's favorite toy!!!!" I'm hoping that Steve makes a speedy recovery for our 15th wedding anniversary this Thurs. I'm getting my freak on damn it...........

Sunday, October 12, 2008 I wanna go again!Yesterday's trip was really nice even though it was crowded as all hell. Last time we went it was near the end of the season and on a Sunday. It was barely crowded and we were able to go in several shops.This year? I knew what store I wanted to hit and what I wanted to get. We did not stop for any thing else. It was so damn crowded we could not believe it!! The weather was a wee bit brisk too. While Pudd'n and I enjoyed the cold air, Steve & Crystal were shivering fools. We loaded up on apples, cider, carmel apples, donut mix (the line was out the door to get these little gems already cooked up), home made jams, fruit and sauces. We want to try and go up again. Only this time we'll go later in the season and on a Sunday! Good thing I took my blood pressure meds this am. My sister is getting married in Feb and I was checking out prices of air fare. HOLY. SHIT. It is robbery I tell you! Ugh.

Thursday, October 09, 2008 Getting excitedToday I picked up the goodies I'll need to make glow in the dark "spiders". You use glow sticks and foam balls. I'll put the web up out front tonight and when Hallowen gets here, I'll put the spider up.I've got a menu planned for when the girls get here on all hallows eve. I'll also be making my sugar skulls this week. Tis the season for sure.

Tuesday, October 07, 2008 Getting off my lazy ass........... Sunday morning found us on a nice sailing trip. Hart of Sailing was in town and we jumped at the chance of going out for a ride. The weather was perfect and the waves not too big. It was great to see George and that sweet smile that was on my son's face. I live for that smile.  When I was a young lass, the neighboring farm where I kept my beloved horse was a working farm. In the fall they had rows and rows of pumpkins. They used to take our horse manure for fertilizer. They preferred the cow poop, but since those suckers were such "houdinis'", they did not last long. MB got tired of catching them and bringing them home.Heh, reminds me of the time my horse Cheyene busted out a fence and stuck his big assed nose through her bedroom window.........
 Sunday afternoon found me I had Steve drive me to work. I needed a few glasses of whiskey to kill the pain.

I make stunningly handsome children..........  Genetics are very interesting. I look at Pudd'n and there is no doubt he came from me. I see my eyes and facial expressions in him. He has my dark Irish looks. Ok, it helps that his father is a goomba......... I love me some dark haired & eyed men. Ok, who am I kidding? I like men period. |
