Finally some time.

I hope every one had a great Thanksgiving. I know I did!
It was pouring down rain when I left to go get my two Marines for the day. How bad was it raining? I was doing 45 mph on the freeway.
Ugh.
It thankfully let up by the time I got to base. I passed some goodies to the guards at the gate and told them "thank you for your service". This year I made rice krispy treats, fudge and choc. chip cookies.
As usual, when I drive through base I manically giggling and drool like Pavlov's dog. Gawd I just love me a man in uniform! And just like Jekyll & Hyde; when I see those boys fresh out of basic training I switch to "mom" mode and the drooling stops.
It was still raining pretty good and all I could think was "They have no coats on! They are going to catch a cold!". I made sure I turned up the heat in the car so whom ever I'd get would warm up quick.
This year's guys were really sweet and very laid back. They were more than happy to get off the base and relax. How relaxed did they get? They fell asleep on my couch before and after dinner.
Gene was the older guy at 21, but he seemed even more mature than that. Braden was the younger, more shy guy. When I asked them if there was anything they wanted to watch on tv while I got ready Gene told me "This is going to sound funny ma'am, but we want to watch cartoons". They found the cartoon net work, I gave them a few beers and snacks and then went off to see if I could get my hair to behave.
When I came out, that is when I found them asleep. Beers half gone. I locked Satan's Little Helper in Pudd'ns room (he was at grandma's) so he would not bother the boys.
Lunch was delicious as usual. It was great to see every one and there were a ton of dogs this year. There was a darling basset hound that I fell in love with. I wanted so bad to bring her home. If Aussie & Athena didn't have a 2 dog min. at their apt, I think they too would of brought a new friend home.
Luckily the rain stopped as soon as we got to lunch and we had beautiful blue skies as we made our way down the coast. The boys took pictures with the disposable cameras we had gotten them. We ended up at the pier for some appetizers & beers and the manager remembered us since we've been doing this ritual for 5 years. This year he picked up our tab! It was kind of busy and I didn't want to leave the tip out on the table, so I had Braden go give it to our waitress. That poor boy turned 3 shades of red! I tried not to laugh at him. We thanked the manager and went back to our place where the boys promptly fell asleep on the couch again. Before we knew it, we had to take them back to base. Steve detoured in to Wally World so we could pick them more snacks up to take back with them.
Both boys might be here at the Yule season so I gave them our number and told them to call if they wanted to come by for dinner.
I hope they do.

In four days I've painted & papered my bed room.
I've painted my kitchen & the cupboards.
You'd think I was on crack because of how obsessed I was on getting this shit done.
Hell, I've been sober three of those four days!
How many levels of wrong is that?
I need to find a 2nd job.
The voices in my head just won't shut the fuck up.
But hey, I love the changes.
Although, with the color I picked for the kitchen cupboards, it reeeeally accentuates the fact that my kitchen counters are from the 70's and a lovely "almond" color that was so popular then.

Ah marital bliss.............

Ok, so for the past two days I've been feverishly working on my bedroom to get it all painted, papered and back in order.
Color me OCD or autistic, but I can't stand when stuff is out of order. When I do home improvement I want it done yesterday.
I want shit done and over with as quickly as possible.
While waiting for the 1st coat of paint to dry on the last wall we took Pudd'n to Grandmaland and went out to breakfast in our favorite little hole in the wall Mexican restaurant.
I love their beans.
Their beans don't love me.
So by tonight, when I'm ready to hang the border (story on that to be coming soon) I've got a bad case of the ~~nuclear farts~~ toots much to Steve's dismay.
*Side note, we live in a duplex with the best neighbor EVAH!*
Steve: Gotdam it Maeve! Those farts stink!!!
Me: What??? Like you can smell anything after all your years of nasty toxic farts. Your sinuses are burned beyond of smelling anything.
Steve: I'm just shocked Candy (our neighbor) has not called the cops claiming that there is a decomposing body over here your farts smell so bad.........
Bastard, he had me.

PMS & hormon mood swings

Ok, so I'm doing my usual morning read of the bloggy world.
LL has a link up and even warns us we may need a kleenex. Being the masochist that I am I click on this link.
Yep, sure did put a lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Juuust what I need with Aunt Flo and all her hormonal misery. Something to cry over.
To cheer myself up, I go and visit the Redneck Mommy . She always makes me laugh. And what do I see at Redneck Mommy's place? A post about my beloved Red wings! It appears she lost a bet and had to post about the Wings. She had the link to this video.
It is a long video, but worth it. One of my favorite moments from this video is when Shanny went to take Roy down and it looked like Shanny hit a brick wall. Being the tenacious Irishman that he is, it didn't deter him and the fight went on.
So from sadness & crying to laughing and then cheering all with in 60 seconds.
Gotta love those hormones!

Home improvements

For my birthday and then again as an early Yule present my mom gave me generous gift cards to your local do it your self store.
I plan on doing some serious painting around casa de Maeve since I've got Thanksgiving week off. I'm stripping some wall paper and repainting my bedroom.
I also have aspirations to get the kitchen repainted too.
Monday I think I'll go put out more applications to find another job. I know the craft store is hiring, but that is like letting the fox guard the hen house.
Ugh, I'd better get my carcass in gear. It is almost time to get the light of my life on the bus.

Ok, got drunk and talked with Cathy last night (she was toasted too).
It is time to move on, there is something out there better for me. Change can be scary, but I have to remind myself it is a good thing too.
Also "Note to self" STAY AWAY FROM ITUNES WHEN YOU ARE DRUNK!!!
You'd think I'd learn by now not to drunk blog/comment too.
Ugh.
I did try teaching Pudd'n the swing dance last night. Just a few steps. He got that sweet shy smile on his face and started laughing. It then turned in to "chase around the house and tickel" his favorite game.

Comfortably numb.............

it was too surreal to go to Carni*s today and get my unemployement info.
I was just there last night and now every thing was packed up and ready to go.
it made me so sad.
And then we got a phone call.............ugh..........the GALL of some ass wipes.
We all know about those damn coupons that would bring customers in right? Well a new batch went out last week.
Cathy (manager): no ma'm we are closed. No, we are not serving food today, tomorrow, next week or next month.
fucktard customer: Well you sent me this coupon, you should Honor it!!!
Cathy: I'd love to ma'm, but right now I'm closing down a business and dealing with people that have lost their jobs.
The caller then promptly hung up on Cathy.
That idiot had the gall to call back 2 min later and demand she speak to a manager.
I laughed my ass off. Cathy was a manager as of last night.
Cathy passes the phone off to Patty (who's parents turn out to be our old family friends) and Patty just holds the phone away from her ear. She tells Ms. Ass wipe the same thing. "sorry I found out last night myself and now I'm dealing with people that have lost their jobs".
That idiot was more upset about not being able to use a Gotdamn $9 coupon then the fact that a lot of people were losing their lively hood.
WHAT THE FUCK IS WRONG WITH PEOPLE?????!!!!!

It's official.

I'm out of a job.
I am so depressed.

On Hold.

It seems the store closing is "on hold" for now? WTF??
Last night we were running out of everything, it was really ridiculous!
What was galling is that the owners actually came in for dinner (they eat for free and just happen to own several restaurants).
No new schedules have been put up. Cathy told me just to come in at my normal time. I think I'll be a few minutes late just to yank Kurt's chain.

We are on fire again.
If it is not the gotdamn mud slides, it is the mother fucking, cock sucking fire bugs that start shit.
Yorba Linda and other places close to home are on fire.
I'm really worried, my friend Rita is out of town and the fires are whipping up where she lives.........

Limbo

Shit is going down behind the scenes at work. Heads are rolling in corporate. There is no new schedules posted for next week and word has gotten out about us closing.
One of my coworkers Kim heard and she went next door to the BBQ place to talk to the GM there. She told him that she was looking for a job because our doors were closing. She asked him not to tell any one and sure as shit, he did.
To his kitchen staff.
Most of his kitchen staff works at our place at night.
We had to borrow linens again, we will be out of bread by this afternoon and there are no schedules up.
Our friend of the family that works at corporate was in last night and she looked visibly upset.
Management still denies the closing.
On a fun note, Kurt and I were back to harassing each other.
At one point I smacked his shoulder with a bread basket because he jokingly accused me of never doing side work.
Stan said "wait, aren't you the manager and she should be listening to you?"
I laughed and Kurt said "you make her listen then".
Heh, Stan declined. He's not as dumb as he looks.

stupid weather.......

Yesterday I woke up with the worst sinus head ache. I could only find refuge with a heating pad glued to my face. Sadly, this will not pay the bills, so I had to drag my carcass to school. The pain did not go away until 9:30 pm.
I was miserable to say the least.
No word yet on closing the restaurant, the Orange store was still open as of yesterday.
I will text Cathy today to see what if anything is up.

Stopping the pity party

I should be ashamed of myself.
Today I should be thanking those who have served instead of whining in my whiskey glass.
It is because of those great men & women that I have the freedoms that I have.
Some of my favorite bloggers have served or are serving right now.

FUCK!!!!

Last night was Kurt's first night back working with us after he was sent to manage the Orange store last year. It was great to have him back and I forgot just how much he helps out. At one point I had a party of 6, 4, 2 and another 2 top. I told the host NOT to seat me again. The party of 6 was just sat and was taking up my time.
What does the host do? Why seat me again of course!
Ugh.
Any way Kurt at one point saw me and said "Maeve, you've got that look of I'm going to kill some one. Preferably a man. What can I do to help?"
Heh, gotta love a man that remembers my look of death.
But my joy of having Kurt back is short lived.
Cathy told me that they are closing our store.
Orange is being closed today and we will shut our doors for good this THURSDAY.
Of course she told me not to tell any one; so it was really hard to pretend nothing was wrong with the other servers.
Fuck, fuck, fuck!!!
I really loved working there!
This restaurant is only a year & a half old and it has to close its doors. I'm glad this place is not my only source of income, but for those who it is.........sucks.
Sucks for me too, now I've got to play the interview game.

Scary times

Yesterday Cathy came by for drinks before the 1 yr & going away party for Barb. I gave Cathy a tarot card reading, we had a really good time. The party was kind of a bust, barely any one showed and the place where they got the food did not cook the tortillas. Soon as I had a taco, I got real queasy. Not good. I stuck to putting every thing on a tortilla chip after that. Cathy also told me that they closed one Carin*s up north and there were 4 more on the chopping block. Our store is one of the lowest sellers, so we'll see what happens. Even where Steve works they are doing a 2% lay off. First they are going to give out retirement packages to those that qualify or just about qualify. Then they will see what is left. Lay offs will be given Dec 1st.
It is going to be a long month......
Our GM got wind that I gave Cathy a card reading and when he asked me if it was true I told him yes.
"That suits you" was his reply.
Heh, maybe I should start threatening him with a Voodoo doll if he pisses me off.
Other gossip news was that Mary could not come in to work because she had been arrested the night before. She and Pete, her boyfriend both work for the company.
Turns out the two had a fight and cops were called. Pete took off and Mary got arrested for drunk & disorderly. One of the guys Steve works with lives in the same complex and mary & pete. When he had gone down to see what was going on the cops put him in cuffs until they figured every thing out. This seems to be a common occurance with these two. Steve's co worker is hoping they get kicked out soon.
Pudd'n and I have today & tomorrow off from school. It felt nice to sleep in.
It was sad that it was Barb's last night. She had the cooks make us a bunch of food to eat after the rush was over and we were cleaning up. They really do treat the managers like shit, so I can't blame her for wanting to move on.
Well I guess I'd better get my ass in gear. Lots to do before going to my night job to find out more drama!

Since my husband's snoring woke me up at 4 am I am extra cranky enough to do this meme.

So here we go with my list of things I'd just like to give a big FUCK YOU to.

1.Insurance companies that don't pay jack shit for speech threapy and other sundries of therapies that are supposed to help my son.

2.The school district that does not really teach what my kid is going to need to make it in this world.

3. The private schools that can teach my kid what he needs that cost more than my mortgage payment every month.

4. Those stupid little coupons that bring in customers. I have a love hate relationship with you little bastards. Yes, you bring the clients in, but they don't know how to tip!

5. People that squirt out kid after kid with different fathers and expect every one else to raise their little spawns.

6.Fathers that don't step up to the plate and take care of all those little brats. Hello? ever hear of a condom? Or better yet, jerk off in to a tissue and save us all the hassel if you don't want to be responsible for what YOU helped to create.

7. OOOO! That double standard of where a guy is a "stud" and "playah" if he fucks everything in sight. Women? They get the label of whore.

8. Number 8 I shall dedicate to Prop 8 that barely passed this week. I don't care what your view on marriage is, but you are fucking with some one's basic civil rights. (It wasn't that long ago it was illigeal to be married out side of your race too ya know. )

9.Narrow minded people that think their religion is the only true religion and then try and shove their beliefs down my throat.

10. The economy. I'm trying to keep a postitive thought on this one, but it is not working. I hate that I have to work two jobs and we are still in the red.

11. And last but not least Autism. A big fat hairy FUCK YOU, you fucking cocksucking bastard that stold my child's ability to communicate and locked him in a prison of his own body.

I'm hoping to hit the voting booths on my way to school. They have them set up at the club house here were I live. If the line is too long, I'll come after I get out of school. I've got a good book to read and am ready to wait to cast my vote.

Like every one else, I want this damn election over with.....

Dru's husband inspired me to thieve some yes on Prop. 8 signs that had been set up here where I live. He had be stealing those signs and throwing them away.
Sat. when we left to go take the goldfinch to the bird rescue I had seen the signs that had not been there before. Luckily they were close enough to the street to where all I had to do was lean out the passinger window and snatch them. We were prepared to do the same to the ones on the way in when we got back. But some one had the same sentiment as we do and took them.
I don't care who you vote for as president, but when you try to take away people's basic rights, I'm gonna get a bit peeved.
Some bible thumpers were trying to pass out little orange bibles at Pudd'ns school and to try to sway people to vote yes on 8 (if you vote yes, then gay & lesbian people lose their rights to marriage). I told the guy "no thanks, I don't want to listen to your homophobic rant".
I am happily going to go cast my vote tomorrow. It was not that long ago that women didn't have many rights. Voting was one of them. I am thankful that I live in a great country where I can discuss politics with friends and not be in fear of being thrown in jail for it. I am thankful for the rights and liberties that I have.
Off topic, my manager Barb is on vacation before her last day at work. They have some damn little 20 something nazi working her shifts. I am hoping to all that is holy she won't be replacing Barb on a permanent basis.
This girl did not impress me one bit and I have a feeling we may be butting heads.
Oh hell, screw that. I'd rather play mind games and just keep giving her the death stare and not say a word.
That is more fun.

Weekend recap

Kerry & Greg. I'm gonna have to wait for Lili to send me the rest of the costume pictures. The batteries in my camera crapped out and I was too ~~drunk~~ lazy to get up and find new ones.

Athena with her dog Winston dressed in drag. He was dressed as "Dorothy" from the Wizard of Oz. All the kids looked great in their costumes with the exception of the "porno tots" as Greg called them. I seriously think they got their costumes from the adult store down the street. Who lets their 11-12 year old girls out as naughty nurse & naughty cop?? The cop outfit even had pink fuzzy lined hand cuffs! I caught one of my own students in a similar outfit. Her boobs weren't hanging out, but her skirt was short enough she had to wear shorts under them and she had thigh highs on too.

I told her we'd discuss her attire come Monday.

My beloved Jack dog. You can see Tozer in the corner. The roses are from my yard. I'm sorry I did not have time to get hot dogs for your Tasha, so I put extra dog cookies out for her. I do giggle every time I think of her coming and stealing a hot dog right out of the bun. That had to be a sight!

While cleaning up from the party & doing yard work Steve came across this gold finch. One leg was fractured and the other was infested with mites. We took it to a bird rescue. I hope they can rehabilitate the poor thing. He ate the food & drank the water I gave him en route.
