I don't want this to "happen in 3's"
I got a text message from Steve yesterday. A long time friend of his had a heart attack and was in a coma. I guess when they ran tests they also found a tumor at the base of Ron's neck. It does not look like he is going to make it.I got a phone call last night from Betty, the nurse to my regular customer of 5 years. I waited on Betty and Amy the entire time I worked for Slappy #1 and Slappy #2.
Amy always insisted on sitting in my station. She grew up in the era of the golden Hollywood. Coctail hour started at 5 pm and lasted until 6pm. She came from old money and knew several stars and she used to love to ballroom dance.
Amy is in hospic now and they don't expect her to last the weekend. When I get out of school, I'm going to go down to say my good byes. I just talked to her last week.
I feel sad, but am happy her suffering is over. Years of smoking unfiltered ciggarettes robbed her lungs of breathing properly. She could barely take a breath this past year.
