Aw shit, I'm gonna have to steer the boat again aren't I?
Steve got called out to work some O/T to get fiber up and running in the Silverado cyn. He sent me this picture of where he was at. While he was slaving away, Pudd'n and I went on another sail boat trip. This was a sun set/evening ride. I had booked it earlier in the month thinking that the three of us could go. I could slam back a few drinks to calm my nerves and Steve could be in charge. Well that plan was shot down the drain when he got the call. No drinking for mommy since I had to drive us to the harbor & back. Put my big girl panites on and deal with it.
It was just dusk when we got there and George was saying goodbye to the family that rode before us. Pudd'n hopped right on the boat and was ready to go. It was just us and George, so that means I had to stear the boat while George got the sails up.
The weather was perfect and it was nice to get to the open ocean. It was nice not having to smell smoke and fire. George and I were chatting and I asked him if he ever dropped anchor and went swimming at night. He told me all the time, he loves to get out to the deep ocean and do just that. Shit, it would take a whole bunch of Vman's Chatham punch to get my ass out there to do that! That water is black as ink at night and full of stuff that would easily make a meal out of my fine Celtic ass. George, being ever the hospitable host that he is offered us some libations and snacks. I mutter something about needing an "adult" drink and he informs me that YES he DOES have nice bar down below! Whoot!
So he gives me that damn rudder again and he goes below to get mommy a nice cold can of happiness. While I'm watching him, I managed to make the boat do "donuts" in the ocean. Round and round we go. I'm ready to freak, Pudd'n is loving it and George is laughing at me.
It is really surreal to sail at night. I can't wait to do it again. Only this time Steve is going for sure.
