While I pimped Steve out to do O/T, Pudd'n and I headed over down to Irvine to one of my favorite parks. It has lakes, nice paths to walk on and several play ground areas. I grabbed the Goat Puppy and headed out. Pudd'n played for a while on a jungle gym and then asked to walk the lake. As we rounded a corner I saw a red tailed hawk take off from the ground. There was another hawk and a group of crows attacking the hawks. Then I saw some thing black and moving on the ground. It appears I interupted the circle of life. A hawk managed to get a Coot duckling from the pond and was going to make it a meal. The crows love to bug the hawks and steal food. The Coot was still alive but stunned. Another man with his dog came upon us and said he'd go get the park ranger.
The Coot got up and walked a few feet and laid back down. Goat Puppy got all excited thinking he had himself a new play toy in the duck. After about 10 minutes the Coot got up and went back down to the pond. We followed him and watched him swim off. The park ranger finally showed up and I got to have an impromptue lesson in the CA Coot duck. This guy just would not shut up! My eyes began to glaze and I for once wanted my kid to have an autistic melt down just so I could get out of there.
The weather is in the upper 60's, so I figured I'd take Pudd'n for a quick swim at Aunt Selma's. They keep their pool in the 80's.
And to top off my nice day I just found out I won $100 in free crack from my favorite parafin pusher. She had a candle party last night and I put my name in a drawing she had.
Life is good.
