Last night was Gil's wake. It was held at a reception hall and it was full. Gail had her favorite photos of Gil out. It was open bar and the food was awesome. Everyone was having a good time and I did not cry until Gail made her speech. In fact, there was not a dry eye in the house. The dessert table was awesome, there was a chocolate FOUNTAIN on it! There was marshmellows, bannanas and pound cake on skewers to dip in the fountain. Then there was toppings to put on top of the chocolate dipped goodies, there was Krispy Kreme donuts and chocolate covered strawberries that looked like they were wearing little tuxedos. I cried all the way home, finally releasing my sorrow for the loss of Gil. I had held it in check these past few months, I guess trying to convince myself it wasn't real.
New Year's was nice for me. I made good money at work and was home at a decent time. We actually stayed up until midnight and then promptly went to bed. We slept in until 10 am. We have not done that since before Pudd'n was born. Pudd'n had stayed the night at grammy's. That is the only reason we got to sleep in that late. We went out for breakfast to a new Mexican place in town. I thought I died and went to heaven. The food was delicious! We pigged out so much, we did not eat for the rest of the day. I can't wait to go back. Tomorrow it is back to reality. Back to school for me & pudd'n.
We got a letter of thanks from the YMCA on base thanking us for taking in Marines for Thanksgiving day. 900 Marines got to spend the day with families. I'll never forget the look on all their faces as they eagerly awaited to get out for the day. And the look of relaxation and contentment as they were dropped off.
Well time to clip coupons and get to the grocery store before the rains hit. Hopefully they will not come until Babs is safely moved in to her new flat. Thanks for babysitting again Bables!!
